Optimizing Listening Effort in Vehicles

Automotive telecommunication applications typically involve lots of background noise. For all signals meant to be heard and interpreted in the vehicle, designers have turned to hardware and software solutions for improving the quality and intelligibility of the presented audio signal. Beamforming techniques, audio zones (AZ), bandwidth extension (BWE) and in-car communication (ICC) are some of the technologies permeating into vehicles today.

Qualification and optimization of these technologies is essential for the market success and a good user experience. However, it has been a challenge to find appropriate metrics for evaluating the efficacy of said solutions. This seminar introduces into optimizing listening effort in vehicles.
